There can be no better place to start than with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage site. Earlier this year, I went on one of Hugh's Catch and Cook expeditions out in Weymouth Bay and then back to the cottage, and it was a magical experience which I would recommend to anyone. Living in Orkney, most people escape for some retail therapy to Aberdeen - and I'm no exception. Except that while others may head for M&S, you'll find me making a bee-line for the Lakeland store. And when I need something urgent for the kitchen, I will order online. Have a look here to see what they have in store at the moment.

There are so many food magazines out there - which ones to choose? Well, for me it is the BBC Good Food magazine and Delicious.
